When a child becomes ill, the whole family is affected. For a family in the Halmstad area, the situation has also meant that the parents have been unable to work as usual and the finances have become increasingly strained. Together with ICA Maxi Högskolan, we were able to make everyday life a little easier.
When the usual becomes suddenly difficult
Food on the table. Shampoo, detergent, toilet paper and all that other stuff that should only be found at home.
This is something most of us do without giving it much thought. But when life suddenly changes, even the most obvious parts of everyday life can become a source of anxiety.
A family in the Halmstad area is currently in such a situation. One of the family's children is sick and the parents have therefore not been able to work as usual. When income decreases while the family already has more than enough to think about, the finances quickly become yet another burden.
We can't change what the family goes through.
But we can help with a small part of that around here.
A shopping cart for a more simple everyday life
Representatives from Halmstad Veteran Hockey and the Niels Larsen Trophy therefore took the family to ICA Maxi Högskolan in Halmstad.
The idea was very simple:
Buy what you need.
Food, basic necessities and things the family needs to make everyday life work.
We accompanied them and helped during the event and, through our charitable work, provided the family with the necessary purchases.
But we weren't the only ones who wanted to help.
When ICA Maxi Högskolan heard about the family, they decided to donate a whole shopping cart filled with candy.
In the midst of all the practicalities, there was, in other words, also room for something that could hopefully make life a little more enjoyable.
A big thank you to ICA Maxi Högskolan for choosing to participate.
It doesn't always have to be the big things.
When we talk about charity, it’s easy to think that it has to be about large fundraisers and large projects.
But sometimes it's exactly the opposite.
Sometimes the best help is a full fridge, a well-stocked pantry, and the knowledge that the family doesn’t have to worry about next week’s grocery shopping.
That does not solve the situation the family is in.
But hopefully it will remove at least one thing to worry about.
And sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
We do this together
The money that makes such efforts possible does not come from nowhere.
They are created through the Niels Larsen Trophy and all the people around the tournament – players, teams, sponsors, partners, officials and others who choose to support what we do.
Therefore, it is not really we who filled that shopping cart.
We did that together.
And when local businesses like ICA Maxi Högskolan also choose to get involved, the help can become even greater.
That is exactly the kind of community that we want the Niels Larsen Trophy to stand for, both on and off the ice.
Would you like to help?
We want to be able to do more of these things.
Perhaps you run a business that can contribute with products, food, an activity, an experience, or something completely different. Perhaps you are an individual and want to contribute a small amount to the next effort.
It doesn't have to be huge.
For someone who is in a difficult situation, even something quite small can make a big difference in everyday life.
